F2S Poster: Curious about where your food comes from?

Discover the Farm-to-School Connection

When a school participates in Farm to School, it:

  • Supports local farmers, creates jobs, & boosts local economy

  • Increases access to fresh foods, healthier meals, & improved well-being

  • Fosters collaboration between schools, farmers, & the community

  • Promotes exploration of agriculture, health, & nutrition in students

What is “local”?

“Local” means as close to school or home as possible, and means your food comes from farms or gardens nearby. Eating local food is like buying from your neighbor!

When food travels a short distance, it’s fresher, tastes better, and helps our planet by using less gas. Plus, supporting local farmers means stronger communities!

So, the next time you eat an apple or carrot, think about where it came from. If it’s local, give yourself a high-five for helping your community and the environment!
