Strategic Plan: Where we’re going.

Between the pandemic, rising costs of living, and strains in food supply and access, the past three years have pushed the very limits of our fragile food system. Farmers still need to distribute food; families still need to access food – but this current system of production is not designed to solve for their shared challenge.

We need a new system that resets our relationship with the land and ensures equitable, sustainable food access for all people.

NWI Food Council is rising to this moment. Over the last year, we’ve grown our staff, expanded our programs, and named our first Co-Executive Directors, and we’ve created a framework that allows us to remain responsive to emerging challenges while moving our region toward a more just food system.

Our 2023-2026 Strategic Plan renews our commitment to NWI Food Council’s core mission: supporting farm viability, increasing food access, and strengthening connections between those who grow and consume food – all in the name of replacing our extractive food systems with sustainable, just, and equitable frameworks.

We invite you to review our new strategic plan and ask you to join us in these initiatives.
