June 2026 Newsletter

Hello Mama!!

June has arrived, and with it comes sunshine, longer evenings, and the unmistakable feeling that summer is finally settling in. The gardens are growing by the minute, farmers are spending more hours outside than inside, and every week seems to bring something new to harvest. Around here, June feels a little bit like possibility.

As we move into summer, we also move into a season that can feel especially busy. School is winding down, schedules are changing, vacations are being planned, and many of us are trying to balance caring for everyone else while somehow remembering to care for ourselves too. (A noble effort, Mama. We see you.)

That's why we're especially excited about a little extra treat tucked into this month's box.

This month, our wonderful friend Ms. Lisa of Wrapped in Love by Granny has created special self-care gifts just for our FarmHer to Mama families. Inside you'll find a collection of all-natural goodies including body butter, body spray, and lip balm designed to bring a little comfort and pampering into your day.

What we love most about Ms. Lisa's products isn't just how lovely they smell (although trust us—they do!). It's the care that goes into every batch. Each item is handcrafted with natural ingredients and made with the belief that everyone deserves a little kindness—including the person who is usually busy taking care of everyone else.

So consider this your official permission slip to take five minutes for yourself. Hide the body butter if you must. We won't tell.

Meanwhile, the fields are beginning to overflow with early summer abundance. The greens of spring are giving way to the first tastes of summer, and before long we'll be swimming in tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, and all the colorful treasures that make Midwest summers so special. Farmers everywhere are keeping one eye on the weather forecast and the other on their crops, hoping for just the right balance of sunshine and rain.

And speaking of sunshine, June is one of the very best months to get outside. Whether it's a picnic in the park, a walk around the neighborhood, cloud-watching with little ones, or simply sitting on the porch with your morning coffee, nature has a remarkable way of reminding us to slow down—even if only for a moment.

As always, thank you for allowing us to be a small part of your family's journey. We hope this month's box brings nourishment, joy, and maybe even a few moments of well-deserved self-care.

Here's to sunshine, growing things, and taking care of ourselves right alongside the people we love.

Food justice for all,

The FarmerHer to Mama Team

Foodie Corner: Strawberries & Scape Season!

Nothing says early summer quite like fresh strawberries! To keep them at their best, wait to wash them until you're ready to eat them. Storing strawberries dry in the refrigerator helps prevent them from becoming soft or moldy too quickly. When properly stored, they can last up to a week.

Ok so garlic scapes...what are they?? Those curly green stalks in your box are garlic scapes—the flower stems that grow from garlic plants in early summer. Farmers remove them so the plant can put its energy into growing bigger garlic bulbs underground.

The good news? Garlic scapes are delicious! They have a mild, fresh garlic flavor that's less intense than garlic cloves and can be used in all kinds of dishes.

The easiest way to enjoy them is to simply chop them up and toss them into scrambled eggs, roasted vegetables, pasta, stir-fries, or salads. Anywhere you'd use garlic or green onions, garlic scapes can step right in. Their season is short, making them one of June's special farm-fresh treats!
